Who are we

CENC-BIO is an indigenous Non-Governmental Organization based in Uganda, with a mission to empower grassroots communities through the promotion of gender equality, social justice, and sustainable solutions for climate change. We actively integrate culture as a key component of Uganda’s development agenda, recognizing its profound impact on the well-being of both communities and the environment.

Our Objectives

Cultural Preservation Initiatives

We are dedicated to reviving indigenous knowledge and practices among communities through meticulous research and documentation. Our focus is on safeguarding intangible cultural heritage, ensuring its resilience for generations to come.

Promote Agroecological Practices

Through our Agroecological Practices program, we empower indigenous communities by advocating for and promoting the adoption of sustainable farming methods aligned with traditional practices. This initiative particularly targets women and youth, fostering sustainable food production

Empower Women and Youth Through Skill Development

We recognize the pivotal role of women and youth in community development. Our skill development and training programs are tailored to enhance their economic independence and overall well-being.

Establish Community-Led Ecological Governance

Collaboration with communities is at the heart of our efforts. We work closely, ensuring the active involvement of women and youth, to strengthen local governance structures. This helps in the effective management of ecological resources and promotes sustainable food systems
